Day 317

I’m faster than a snail
And much smaller than a whale
I live inside a tree
And am not a bumblebee
I use wings to help me fly
And see things from a birds eye
If you find a hole come take a peek
I probably made it with my beak
I’m not a butterfly, goat, or lamb
Can you guess just who I am?

Day 316

Walking through my bedroom is like walking through a maze
If I take just one wrong turn I could be lost in here for days
I do have one clear path but I’m not sure where it goes
I might just follow it and end up under a mountain full of clothes
Or stuck inside my closet and not be able to get out
Buried under so many things no one would hear me shout
I need to real careful of obstacles strewn across my floor
Every time I take a step I run into a few more
I don’t know how this happened, why it’s such a maze in here
But I know that cleaning it will take about a year

Day 314

The month of February is almost over
Soon it’ll be time for shamrocks and clovers
But there’s still some birthday wishes that I want to send
To my cousin Terry before this month ends
I think that a poem is the easiest way
To wish him the happiest of all birthday
I realize this poem is not very long or overly deep
I apologize for that but I’m falling asleep

Day 313

I’m watching the Oscars, they’re kind of a bore
It’s much more exciting to see what everyone wore
I haven’t seen any of the movies, not one single one
That might be why watching is not all that fun
They keep bringing out people to sing lots of songs
It’s making this award show incredibly long
You might be thinking just turn off the show
But it’s on in every room that I go

Day 312

I have a monster living under my bed
He comes out occasionally when he wants to be fed
He gobbles up socks and lots of left shoes
And all of my t-shirts that are red, green and blue
He’s glittery purple with orange pointy spikes
And he lets out a roar when he eats something he likes
His eyes are bright green and he’s a little bit hairy
But don’t be alarmed he’s not all that scary
He’s always quite pleasant after eats
But I do have to be careful and protect both my feet

Day 311

Katie and I want to do a Tough Mudder and think you should do it too                                Don’t you think life is more exciting when you’re trying something new?
We’re looking for some people to tell us yes instead of no
It doesn’t matter your fitness level, you can be fast or slow
Don’t let the obstacles scare you, that’s why we’ll be a team
To help everyone over walls and water and across a balance beam
Our team will be supportive and push each of us when we tire
And together we’ll run through electric shocks and flames of shooting fire
In total it’s between 10-12 miles that we’ll have to run
But think of how proud we’ll feel once the mudder’s done
So take a moment and decide if a tough mudder is something you might do
And just remember that Katie and I want you to

Day 310

I have a foot that grows out of my head
It sticks straight up when I lay in my bed
But when I bend the foot it can touch my nose
And out of it grows 16 colored toes
There’s a purple toe, a red toe, and of course one that’s pink
When people stare at my foot I wonder what they must think
Sometimes I cover it with a brightly colored sock
And it’s pretty convenient when I need to knock
Every so often I use this foot at the top
To turn upside down and on it I hop
If you had the choice just where would it be
That you’d put a foot if one day you grew three

Day 309

Annie was bored while sitting in school
When suddenly her classroom turned into a pool
Water started coming in through the door
Splashing her feet and flooding the floor
The whole class watched in surprise until her teacher let out a shout
"Class we have to get going, we have to get out!"
All the kids scrambled up quickly and Annie leapt from her seat
And ran out of the room with a squeak of her feet
But when they got to the hall there was no where to go
Other then to swim through the water which was not all that low
All of that water was starting to seep
On clothing and carpets and was getting quite deep
The hallway was filled with kids and supplies
Annie wished she had goggles to cover her eyes
She also thought that she’d like a fin
But she didn’t have either so she dove right on in
As Annie swam down the hall she stopped for a minute to float
And when her principal sailed on by she wondered where he got a boat
He was fishing out pencils, markers, and binders with rings
As well as notebooks and backpacks, really all kinds of things
Annie no longer was bored and was starting to see
That this is the way she wanted school to be
Swimming in the water she was starting to wish
That she could go to school just like a fish

Day 308

Ellie wants to touch a cloud, she thinks they look like fluff
But every time she tries, she can’t get close enough
She imagines sitting on top of one, high up in the sky
Jumping over from cloud to cloud, pretending she can fly
Looking up at all the clouds Ellie sees many different things
Including spaceships, tall giraffes, and crowns made for lion kings
Sometimes she sees a pair of shoes or a bird sitting on a cow
Ellie really wants to touch a cloud and she needs to think of how
So Ellie thought real hard and long and decided to climb the tallest tree
And then reach out to try and touch the first cloud that she would see
So Ellie scurried up the tree and saw a cloud just hanging there
But when she tried to reach for it she felt nothing but cold air
Then Ellie thought she could touch a cloud by flying in a plane
But every time she got close to one that cloud would start to rain
Ellie couldn’t touch a cloud when all the clouds were wet
So she needed a new plan, one she hoped was her best yet
She thought about a ladder but didn’t have one to reach that high
So she thought that building one was something she would try
Ellie got to work building that ladder with help from her brother Will
Who helped make the ladder super tall and then held the ladder still
And then Ellie climbed up the ladder quickly, being careful on each rung
Hoping she could finally reach where all the clouds were being hung
Ellie climbed for hours and hoped she’d finally touch a cloud real soon
Until she realized something even better, she’d climbed right to the moon
